SELF-EVALUATION

In the presentacion, Lorena and I talked about island Hawaii. The objective of the presentacion is that we had to find new information of one country that speak english. And we choose Hawaii because it is an idyllic place. And we thing that is a perfect place for spend our Gap year.

On one hand, in the presentation I don't was very nervous but I forgot some things. That is,in some parts of the presentation, I had to i improvise. For exemple, I said "aparted" instead of "away from". And I did more mistakes like this. When I was explain the islands, I talked fast and some student don't understand me.

On the another hand I want to comment the body language. In the presentation I look to the public all the time and I have gesticulate when it was necessary. I thing that this aspect help me in the time for take a mark.

Another important thing I want to comment is the content of the presentation. I think that we had a good content but we had to preparet it more. I think that the presentation has helped us too understand more our explanations od this island.

Insurgent

JUVENILE DELINQUENCY

Today we live in a world of indifference, where what happens to the other is not our problem, where everyone looks after their own interests without taking a moment to reflect on the consequences of their actions. Perhaps fot this has increased juvenile delinquency. Juvenile criminal can't be tried like an adult. Many of them commit any crime knowing that theyare protected by law. For this reason many  young people choose the wrong way of crime. Many reasons teenagers creatin different types of aggressive or addictive behaviors, such as drugs, a problematic family, alcohol, lack of education...

But the principal factor is the neglect of the family to the child. These people grow up in an aggressive environment and neglected, because of to low resources they have. Another important thing is that these causes make gender violence increase.

Another important factor is poverty. Young people don't have much money to meet their basic needs. Consequent to that, they are at a stage of development in seeking to have objects that identify with others.

Drugs are also a factor driving the jovnes to behoove some crimes. Young are used for marketing drugs and so they get money.

And I could say many more factors that drive young people to commit crimes, but I think these are the most important. In my opnionion, I think that if the state don't redistrebuye the wealth of a country and if they don't reduc the inequality, the number of juvenile crimes is decreased increasingly be greater.

CHILDHOOD OBESITY

Childhood obesity is one of the most serious health problems of the XXI century. The problem is global and it affect progressively many countries. There are an estimated 42 million overweight children in 2010 in around the world, of which about 35 million live in developing countries.
Before, obesity was a problem for adults, but now is increasingly affecting children. Obesity in childhood compromises the health of children and currently can be diagnosed with other problems such as type 2 diabetes, hypertension and high cholesterol levels. Apart from these physical conditions, children can develop psychological problems. Jokes, bullying or rejection by their "friends", can bring them to have low self-esteem.

Consequences of obesity in children:
- Problems with the bones and joints
- Difficulties in developing a sport or other physical exercise because of the shortness of breath and fatigue.
- Sleep disturbances
- Premature maturity. Obese girls can enter before puberty, have irregular menstrual cycles, etc.
- High blood pressure, cholesterol, and cardiovascular disease
-Etc.

According to experts, obesity when it manifests in childhood and persists into adolescence, and not treated in time, it probably will creep into adulthood.

SHOULD THE EXPERIMENTS ON HUMAN LIFE HAVE LIMITS?

Medicine and technology have come a long way in recent years. All these developments help that man develop their capabilities. New discoveries and work on prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases have been carried out thanks, in part to research and tests on humans.

On the one hand, I don't agree with these experiments because they can attempt to the dignity of the person, for exemple the Nazi experiments on prisoneros.
The prisoners, mostly Jews, but also Gypsies, Soviet prisoners of war and German disabled.
Generally, the experiments resulted in death, disfigurement or permanent disability, and therefore are considered as examples of medical torture.

On the other hand, the emergence of vaccines, antibiotics and many other types of drugs, drugs such as tamoxifen or imanitib have reduced cancer mortality and drug combinations have saved the lives of hundreds of thousands of people infected with HIV. Much of this progress would have been impossible without the use of animal models and humans.

In conclusion, I agree that human experiments were done but always take into account the limits.

Oceans To Hold More Plastic Than Fish by 2050

SUMMARY:

There will be more plastic than fish in the world’s oceans by 2050 unless more recycling takes place. That is what a new report from the World Economic Forum and Ellen MacArthur Foundation warns.
The problem is that each year at least 8 million tons of plastics end up in oceans around the world. Unlike other types of trash in the ocean, the plastic never bio-degrades. That means it does not break down.

There is a way to slow the amount of plastics going into the oceans -- people can recycle more. That is a major recommendation of the report by the World Economic Forum and Ellen MacArthur Foundation.
For decades, scientists warned that plastics are killing fish. The Natural Resources Defense Council said research shows that fish are dying from choking after eating plastics. Another cause of death is that plastics cause “intestinal blockage and starvation,” the environmental group said.

VOCABULARY:
  • Trend: tendencia.
  • Garbage: basura.
  • Sidewalks: acera.
MY OPINION:

I think that we have to recycle if we want to stay in this world, because if we don't recycle we can't live more in this planet. For years, the humans are contaminate the world. We only think of ourself, and we don't think for the future. I don't want to know what will happen to our planet if we continue like this.
